Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

What is it?

Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that involves internal and external assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles to help with pelvic related conditions.

Treatment Approach

Treatment looks different for everyone. An individualized treatment plan will be created with a full body approach that includes education on your condition and the role of the pelvic floor, exercises, and internal and/or external hands on therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at rhiannon@rhihabphysiotherapy.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

My training allows me to complete either an internal vaginal or rectal exam if indicated. In your first appointment, we can discuss whether or not an internal exam would be beneficial, then decide together if it is the right option for you. Ultimately, the choice is yours as the patient.

Pelvic floor therapy is for anyone with a pelvis (which means everyone). Women, men, non-binary, and gender-fluid people can all benefit from pelvic floor therapy. Additionally, certain children can also benefit.

If we had planned on doing an internal exam or treatment, we can still proceed if you have your period, though this depends on your comfort level.
